Roger W. Purk, 76, formerly of Ottawa and Van Wert, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Lochhaven Assisted Living, Lima.
He was born July 20, 1948, in Van Wert to Robert and Marvel Rae (Mefferd) Purk, who preceded him in death.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dick, David and Daniel Purk; and a granddaughter, Grace Kieper.
Roger was a big man with a bigger personality and the biggest heart. A 1967 Crestview High School graduate, he managed the Clark station in Van Wert for 12 years, owning it for four years. He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 24 years in 2008 after working in Van Wert; Orlando, Fla.; and Perrysburg. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He was a bigger fan of his family, cheering on their successes and telling them how much he loved them.
Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, with Deacon David Maas officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
