Margaret A. Elliott 

Margaret A. Elliott, 91, of Oakwood, passed away at 8:10 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2025, at The Laurels of Defiance. She was born January 6, 1934, in Oakwood to the late Albert and Pearl (Heilshorn) Adams. On March 6, 1953, she married Warren A. Elliott in Fort Rucker, Alabama. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1999. 

She is survived by three children: Mary (David) Young of Celina, Ward Elliott of Oakwood, and Gloria (John) Bernadine of Wooster; a son-in-law, Doug Retting of Tennessee; six grandchildren: Kaci Elliott, Kyle Retting, Dr. Sarah (Andrew) Rotsinger-Stemen, Lacey Bowers, Joseph (Kylee) Bernadine and Jacob Bernadine; fifteen step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Carol) Adams of Oakwood. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Retting; three brothers: Gerald, Earl and Richard Adams; and five sisters: Floella Bodenbender, Gayle Foss, Rachel Adams, Evelyn Johnston and Norma Erford. 

Margaret was a 1952 graduate of Oakwood High School. She was a homemaker and member of the Free Christian Church in Continental. Margaret enjoyed gardening, shooting, and was an accomplished bird hunter in her younger years. She was a beloved wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved her family deeply. 

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Free Christian Church, Continental with Pastor Jim Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be held from 10 to 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
