Larry E. Barnett, 72, of Van Wert, died at 8:51 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Lima Memorial. He was born to the late Richard and Dorothy (Wilder) Barnett on June 21, 1952. On April 21, 1973, he married the former Michelle Fleck, who survives. On July 6, 2006, Larry retired from Powertrain General Motors, after 30 years of service.He loved his family, his cats, and working with wood.

Larry is survived by his wife, Michelle Barnett; his children, Kristina (Jason) Fought of St Marys and Robert (Debbie) Barnett of Waterville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Destinee (Greg) Brown, Noah Fought and Landon, Mason, Kolton and Ronan Barnett; a very special friend, Kayla; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Sue) Barnett of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a sister, Cheryl (Lewis) Rogers of Pittsford, Michigan; brother in law, Mark (Kerri) Fleck of New Ellenton, South Carolina; Sister in law, Cyndee (Jerry) DeLong of Van Wert; mother in law, Norma Dennewitz of Paulding; uncles, Dan (Ethel) Wilder of Paulding and Ronald J. Barnett of Canton, Ohio.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Remmington Thomas Richard Barnett, and a nephew, Adam DeLong. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, with Rev. Stuart Wyatt, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Mohr Cemetery, Van Wert County.Visitation will be from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Van Wert County Humane Society or American Heart Association.
