Drought of 1854 one of area’s worst

Not only are weather guru, Rick McCoy, and yours truly best of friends, our closeness is inspired by an intense interest in “weather.” With one of the strongest droughts in some time and its “severe drought” rating in Adams, Allen and Jay County in Indiana and Mercer, Van Wert and parts of Williams County in Ohio, I looked back in my weather journals to reread some information I found on the terrible drought pioneers making their way into the area experienced in 1854.

Ohio legislators risk leaving rural communities behind

The Ohio Legislature’s recent passage of HB-15 is a great improvement in Ohio’s energy policy, but it doesn’t meet all the needs in some rural communities. Chiefly, it fails to address the critical issue of refitting older wind turbines built under SB 213 in Northwest Ohio — turbines that were designed and installed before lawmakers began actively blocking clean energy development through restrictive laws like HB 6 and SB 52.
