Ronald D. Cook, 89, of Van Wert, died at 10:25 am on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Vancrest of Van Wert. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, with Pastor Missy Mullenhour, officiating. WILLIAM E. REICHARD

William E. “Bill” Reichard, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Vancrest of Payne, Payne, OH. Bill was born on September 15, 1948, in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Loren and Dorothy (Ritter) Reichard. On December 11, 1983, he married Brenda Lee, who survives. Bill worked as an electrician for 44 years at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, IN before his retirement in 2014. For many years, he helped with Youth for Christ. He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. Bill loved NASCAR, football, watching movies, music, eating out, and traveling. Along with his loving wife, Brenda, Bill is survived by his brother, Dennis Reichard, Warren, IN; sister, Alice Reichard, Muncie, IN; two nephews, Aron and Khalid Reichard. The funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Den Herder Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding Township. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. JEREMY M. SADZEWICZ

Jeremy M. Sadzewicz, 44, of Van Wert, died Thursday evening, August 8, 2024, at Ohio Health Van Wert. He was born March 30, 1980, in Silver City, New Mexico, to John Sadzewicz and Paula (Walls) Ybarra. He married the former Kelly Bristow. Jeremy loved riding his motorcycle, fishing and playing corn hole and beer pong. Most importantly, Jeremy was a proud father. All he wanted to do is brag about his kids! He was a route driver for K & M Tire, in Delphos. Jeremy is survived by his wife, Kelly Sadzewicz of Van Wert; his children, Devon Burke of Troy, Ohio, Freddy Behm of Van Wert, Bella Behm of Van Wert, and Braxton Sadzewicz of Van Wert; 2 grandchildren; a brother, John (Shelly) Sadzewicz of Wapakoneta; sisters, Jessie Zartman of Toledo, and Carrie Yaney of Fremont, Ohio; his father and stepmother, John (Connie) Sadzewicz of Alberqueqe, New Mexico; his mother, Paula Ybarra of Van Wert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Ybarra. A memorial visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. ARCHIE B. SHRUM

Archie B. Shrum, 88, of Van Wert, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born March 30, 1936, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, the son of Orville and Bessie (Beason) Shrum. On August 18, 1956, he married the former Jacquelyn S. Geisman. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2021. Archie retired from the Lima Tank Plant after many years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, in Van Wert, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1320, in Van Wert. Archie is a veteran of the Army National Guard. Archie is survived by his children, David E. (Michelle) Shrum of Delaware, Ohio, Susan L. (Randy) Heppeard of Van Wert and Marilyn A. (James) Tomlinson of Van Wert; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Mary Emma, Martha Bell, Anna and Georgia. In addition to his wife, Jacquelyn S. Shrum, Archie was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, John, Chester, Orville, Harold and Floyd; and 4 sisters, Violet, Grace, Bertha and Wavie. Carol E. Leathers, 88, of Van Wert, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born on February 21, 1936, in Van Wert, to the late Poe and Grace (Smith) Doner. On October 9, 1965, Carol married the love of her life, John Leathers, who passed away on May 31, 1989 A proud graduate of Van Wert High School, Carol was a dedicated bookkeeper for Thomas Edison Center. Prior to her time at Thomas Edison, she had worked in the payroll department at Borden Dairy. Carol was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Van Wert. Devoted to her family, Carol is survived by her loving children: Craig Leathers of Redlands CA; Marcy Leathers of Van Wert;, and Stacy Leathers of Memphis, TN. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her throughout her life. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses, Betty (Richard) Learned and Marilyn (Omar) Steward.
