Van Wert Area Retired Teachers set summer luncheon for July 11

VAN WERT — The Van Wert Area Retired Teachers Association (VWARTA) will have a summer luncheon meeting and program on Friday, July 11th at noon in the Willow Bend Country Club. Members are encouraged to attend to hear updates from speaker Dr. Robin Rayfield, ORTA Executive Director, and/or other ORTA officers, on the STRS pension system and the Ohio Retirement for Teachers Association” response to recent legislation passed in Ohio’s budget bill that limit the voices of retired and active teachers in the decision-making process involving their retirement futures. VWARTA members are welcome to invite other interested retired educators as guests to this luncheon program.

Van Wert Fire Department puts new CAR 2 into service to support growing emergency needs

VAN WERT — The Van Wert Fire Department has officially placed a new response vehicle, CAR 2, into service, according to a news release from Fire Chief Jon Jones. This upgraded vehicle is a major step forward in helping the department respond more effectively to the growing number of emergency calls handled each day.

First Financial Bank completes successful book drive in Paulding, Van Wert

PAULDING – First Financial Bank (Nasdaq: FFBC) teamed up with associates and community members on a successful book drive in May, with 189 books dropped off in bins at the First Financial locations in Paulding and Van Wert, and a grand total of 5,726 books dropped off in First Financial locations in four states. These books will now be donated to local schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations in areas served by the bank.
