PAULDING — The John Paulding Historical Museum will host the Canal Society of Indiana for its fall tour on Saturday, Aug. 17. The theme is “Towpath & Warpath,” following the Wabash & Erie Canal from Antwerp to Junction.
VAN WERT — The Van Wert Municipal Court has released the activity report for the month of July 2024. The Court had a total of 605 cases for the month, as follows: 463 traffic cases; 85 criminal cases; and 56 civil cases.
VAN WERT — Local families are preparing for the school year with back-toschool sales and adding more items to their lists for children in need around the world. Shoebox packers are using this time to purchase gifts and essential items to fill shoebox gifts for children Operation Christmas Child in over 100 countries.

DAYTON — FOA Families of Addicts is preparing for the 11th annual Rally 4 Recovery, which will be their biggest rally to date with 73 different resource tables confirmed to be in attendance. The Rally is scheduled for Sunday, Aug.

CONVOY—Crestview School students will be heading back to class on Monday, August 19. At the Crestview Board of Education meeting on Monday, August 12, board members heard from building principals Mimi Myers, Trent Kreischer, Lindsay Breese, and Casey Dowler who provided the board with a brief overview of the upcoming school year.
VAN WERT — The following individual was seen by Judge Martin D. Burchfield in the Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas: Thursday, Aug.
Central Ohio – Wildlife District One State Wildlife Officers Josh Elster, assigned to Pickaway County, and Brady Stevens, assigned at-large in central Ohio, responded to a complaint from the Deer Creek Lake spillway of unlawful fishing methods. The officers observed a group snagging various sport fish. The group was contacted with the assistance of State Wildlife Officer John Coffman, assigned to Fayette County. The officers discovered that some members of the group did not have a valid fishing license. Summonses were issued for fishing without a license, and the subjects were fined $130 each. Five saugeye and three white bass were seized as evidence.
