VAN WERT—The Van Wert Board of Education meeting was brief and eventful on Wednesday evening. Board member Greg Blackmore reported on recent security research.
VAN WERT—A-Bar Rodeo out of Bluffton, Ohio put on quite a show, Sunday night at the Van Wert County Fair. Between the barrel racers and the bull riders, it was an evening packed with entertainment.
VAN WERT—Thursday was Veterans Day at the fair. Dozens of Van Wert area veterans were warmly welcomed into the fairgrounds, enjoying complimentary admission to the festivities.
VAN WERT—One of the newest additions to this year’s fair was the Artisan Tent, which was tucked away between the Ag Building and the Commercial Building near the rides. The tent was shared by tinsmith Michael Felk and Van Wert’s very own Wassenberg Art Center.
VAN WERT—Wednesday at the fair was Senior Day with those 60 and older admitted free before 4 p.m. The day started early with coffee and donuts in the Midway Tent followed by a program that provided a cornucopia of information aimed at seniors.
VAN WERT COUNTY — The Van Wert County Humane Society (VWCHS) and YWCA of Van Wert County have joined forces to organize a new event in October aimed at raising awareness about the connection between animal cruelty and domestic violence.
VAN WERT— On Saturday, the Van Wert County Fair honored our local heroes with First Responders Day, offering free admission to all area first responders. Sgt.
COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently announced the launch of the Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace program. Led by the Governor’s Recovery Ohio initiative, the new program is designed to create job opportunities for people in recovery from a substance use disorder or mental health condition, combat stigma surrounding addiction and mental illness in the workplace, and provide a boost to Ohio businesses.
VAN WERT—The Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association (OSTPA) made a roaring return to the Van Wert County Fair on Friday night for an evening of thrilling pulling action. The OSTPA, with over 60 years of organizing sanctioned pulling events, brought together fans and competitors alike for a night to remember.
