UPDATED FROM VAN WERT COUNTY SHERIFF at 11:35 a.m.:
VAN WERT COUNTY — Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach announced the arrest of a woman following a pursuit through multiple jurisdictions. Sheriff Riggenbach said Jacquelynn E. Slone, age 28, of St. Mary’s Ohio, was arrested on one count of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a Felony of the 3rd degree, following the pursuit.
Sheriff Riggenbach advised his Office received a phone call at 0755 hours from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office in reference to the Rockford Police Department attempting to stop a vehicle that almost struck their cruiser head on. Mercer County advised that Rockford PD was northbound on SR 118 and had just passed SR 81. Van Wert County Sheriff Deputies located the vehicle on SR 118 near Emerson Rd., where the suspect nearly struck a vehicle head on. Deputies turned on the vehicle and continued to attempt to stop the vehicle.
The suspect vehicle drove over stop sticks at SR 118 and Cooper Rd. and continued into the City of Van Wert, traveling on multiple streets before heading south on Shannon St. back into the County. The suspect struck a Sheriff’s Office vehicle in the area of Rader Rd. and SR 118. The suspect then attempted to turn west on to Glenmore Rd. but lost control, went through a yard, and came to rest on Glenmore Rd. The suspect was taken into custody by deputies.
The suspect was taken to Van Wert Health where she was treated and released and was then transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility where she is being held pending an arraignment in Van Wert Municipal Court.
Sheriff Riggenbach stated the incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed. Agencies assisting in the incident were Rockford Police Department, Van Wert City Police Department, Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Ohio City EMS.

VAN WERT COUNTY — Van Wert City Police confirmed that Van Wert City Police, Rockford Police, and Van Wert County Sheriff’s officers were in pursuit of a car driven by a woman this morning around 9 a.m. Police laid spikes to stop the car. The chase stopped on S.R. 118 near Glenmore Rd. just outside of Ohio City where police took the driver into custody.
The chase originated in Celina moving north through Mercer County, going into Rockford at one point, eventually going north on Shannon and then south on Shannon to S.R. 118 south. Van Wert City Schools was placed on lockdown while the police were in pursuit of the vehicle. The driver was apprehended in Van Wert County. The event is being handled by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s department.
