DONNA J. SCHAADT

It is with sadness the family of Donna J. Schaadt announces her death on August 25, 2024. She was born to Ralph and Ruth McCleary on January 31, 1933. She graduated from Convoy High School where she was a cheerleader for the basketball team all four years. She married Robert L. Schaadt in 1952.Donna was employed by Phelps Dodge Copper Corp. and later by Bowling Green State University where she worked until her first child was born and then became a full-time mother and homemaker.

Donna faithfully sang in church choirs and placed a high value on faith, home, and family. She did countless sewing projects, refinished furniture, made photo albums, and drove her children to music lessons and sports. Donna fully supported Robert’s career which required frequent relocation. In later years Robert worked as a consultant and she often assisted him, traveling to Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, London, Ireland, Scotland, and Britain. Their 15th move was to retire at Keeowee Key, in South Carolina where they lived for 29 years. In retirement, Donna did many drawings and oil paintings. She sang in the Keeowee Key Koraliers and shared her love of art and reading with the children at Oconee’s Tamassee D.A.R. Elementary School. She is survived by her son Robert L. Schaadt Jr (Carol), daughters Kathleen (James), Julia (Keith), and Leesa (Dave), 5 grandchildren Robert L. Schaadt III (Sarah) 9 great-grandchildren, Violet Haddock, Wyatt McLeroy, Gwendolyn Schaadt, her sister Eva and sisters-in-laws Ellen, and Jan (Dean). She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Schaadt, brother Robert (Marsha), brother-in-laws Doyt (Phyllis), Paul, Herbert Jr, Bill, Frank, sister-inlaw Linda (Ned), and one grandchild, Elizabeth Schaadt
