BLUFFTON — In a high-powered Northwest Conference (NWC) showdown Friday night, Bluffton (6-1) outlasted Crestview (5-2) in a 49-34 shootout despite two record-breaking performances from the Knights.
ST. HENRY — St. Henry (6-1) continued its strong run through the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) on Friday night, defeating Parkway (0-7) by a 56-7 score.
ST. MARYS — In a Western Buckeye League (WBL) clash that featured nearly 860 yards of total offense and plenty of fireworks, St. Marys leaned on Caleb Schmidt’s six-touchdown performance to edge Van Wert 42-35 on Friday night.

Not only are weather guru, Rick McCoy, and yours truly best of friends, our closeness is inspired by an intense interest in “weather.” With one of the strongest droughts in some time and its “severe drought” rating in Adams, Allen and Jay County in Indiana and Mercer, Van Wert and parts of Williams County in Ohio, I looked back in my weather journals to reread some information I found on the terrible drought pioneers making their way into the area experienced in 1854.
