Food Recalls

NEW HOLLAND, PA—Savencia Cheese USA is recalling select soft ripened cheeses manufactured in its Lena manufacturing facility because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

When the drinks were loaded and ready to be served, I enjoyed walking through the animal barns, the exhibits that were then shown in the high school classrooms next to the fair and taking in the activities led by 4H-ers who specialized in leadership abilities connected with the fair activities.
