
Van Wert captures WBL crown
VAN WERT—The Van Wert golf team hosted the WBL golf tournament last Thursday at Willow Bend Country Club. It may have started late due to the fog but that didn’t stop the golf team from winning the tournament.

OHIOCITY—TheOhioCityFireDepartment responded to a garage fire at 11:30 Thursday morning on Jefferson Street in Ohio City, with mutual aid by Rockford Fire Department. The fire was reportedly started by a lawn mower that caught fire in the garage.
VAN WERT—There’s a new clothing store in town and its name is Blessings Boutique. The store sells clothing for children aged infant to teenage, and specializes in girls’ and women’s fashions. The store is located at 229 N. Washington Street across from the Wassenberg Art Center.
PAULDING COUNTY — Paulding County Juvenile Court Judge Harvey D. Hyman has announced the newest staff members of the probation department.
VAN WERT—Two officers were sworn-in to the Van Wert Police Department on Monday. Debra Ebert took an oath to be a reserve police officer with the Van Wert PD.
VAN WERT—The YMCA of Van Wert County hosted its 8th annual golf outing. This year, the YMCA achieved record numbers, with 60 hole sponsor signs and over 30 door prizes, including a 65 inch flat screen TV, smokeless fire pit, golf bags, golf clubs, and more.
ROCKFORD— The Parkway Student Government will soon be hosting the annual fall homecoming activities. The festivities start on September 29, 2024, starring all Parkway Fall athletic teams and the homecoming attendants from each grade.
Central Ohio – Wildlife District One State Wildlife Officers Jade Heizer and John Coffman, assigned to Fairfield and Fayette counties, respectively, conducted a litter enforcement project at Buckeye Lake in response to public complaints. Misdemeanor summonses were written to two individuals for state property litter and another individual was cited for keeping sport fish caught with a cast net. Individuals paid fines totaling $320 for litter offenses and $85 for the cast net violation. Three crappie were seized and forfeited to the state.
VAN WERT — The Convoy Research Club met Monday, Sept. 16 at the Council on Aging building. Members present were Sandy Amundson, Mary Collins, Ruth Ann Densel, Ruth Etzler, Jo Feasby, Connie Fiock, Audrey McClure, Eunice Mefferd, Janet Moorman, and Marie Sanfilippo. Kevin Matthews, the Council on Aging director, presented the program.
CONVOY—The Crestview homecoming court was able to beat the brief rain shower on Friday night, as the court was announced prior to kickoff. Throughout the week the Crestview high school voted on who they wanted to be the queen and king but also got to be part of spirit week.
