Fire destroys VW Co. home
VAN WERT COUNTY—Three fire departments responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning on the northwest corner of 118 and the Van Wert-Mercer County Line. Units from Ohio City, Rockford and Mendon Union Fire departments responded to the alarm that went out at about 5:23 a.m.
House fire on S. Shannon St.
VAN WERT—At 5:17 p.m. Van Wert Fire Dept. received a call reporting heavy smoke and a possible fire at 749 S. Shannon St. Fire department crews quickly responded and put out the fire that had begun.
2009 class reunion announced
VAN WERT—The Van Wert High School Class of 2009 will be holding their class reunion on Saturday, September 21 at the Harvest Moon Festival. A tent at the event has been reserved for all to gather.

Tri County ADAM Board to meet VAN WERT — The Tri County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board of Van Wert, Mercer, and Paulding Counties will meet on Aug. 27 at 5 p.m.

CERT: house fire donations needed
VAN WERT COUNTY—On Sunday August 18, the Van Wert County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was dispatched to assist the Ohio City Fire Department for a house fire. CERT is working to raise support for the families.
United Way Mobile Food Pantry
VAN WERT COUNTY — West Ohio Food Bank, a United Way of Van Wert County agency, will be distributing shelf stable food and produce at Trinity Friends Church on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. or until food is gone. This mobile food drive will be a drive-thru only event.
