Instructor Anna Fisher is returning to the Wassenberg Art Center for another children's class. "Christmas Clay Crafts" will be held Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 and December 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. The class is for ages 9-12, and the kids will make Christmas gifts and holiday projects from clay and glaze them. A Santa bowl for candy, reindeer ornament, and candle holder are some of the projects Anna will guide the children through. The cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Our upcoming adult class, "Fun With Drawing" starts Monday, November 9. This will run four Mondays: November 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is a great class for both beginners and those who want to brush up skills. It really is beneficial to go back to the basics once in a while and tune up your skills. The cost is $45 for members, $55 for non-members. This class will involve exploring new techniques while improving drawing skills. "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" exercises will be included to help teach you how to see as an artist. Supplies needed: Drawing pencils in different "hardness" - we suggest HB, 2B, 3B and 4B pencils. Kneaded eraser, drawing paper or pad, black ink pen (such as a very fine point Sharpie, Micron or other felt tip), colored pencils, colored markers, a small piece of fine sandpaper and a flashlight.
All other supplies will be provided. Preregistration and prepayment required.
Although we are sorry to see the wonderful October Photography Exhibit end for another year, we are really looking forward to our 20th Annual Members' Show and Sale. This show represents part of the Wassenberg Art Center's mission, which is to encourage and support local artists. Many of our artists, potters and photographers are professionals with excellent technical skills; others are beginners and this gives them all a chance to be in the spotlight. There will be both a judged exhibit and a sales gallery, so all together it is an exciting and enjoyable show.
And what a great place to look for unique original gift items for the upcoming holidays. This show is very popular with the public, and is sponsored by the Van Wert County Hospital. The Members' Show will be on display from November 15 through December 12.
