  • Cross Over the Hill Bible education facility dedication set for Sunday

    VAN WERT — The newest Cross Over the Hill Bible education facility will be formally dedicated on the afternoon of Sunday, Jan 21. The public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony which will be held at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will feature speaker Joel Penton and music by Ryan Holliday.

  • Convoy Wrestling starts 2nd season strong

    CONVOY — On Sunday, the Convoy Wrestling Club competed in their second tournament of only their second season. Twenty-nine wrestlers took to the mats for the club and as the day ended, Convoy was called to the podium 14 times.

  • Annual Entrepreneurship Fair will kickoff business plan competition

    VAN WERT — The 9th annual Entrepreneurship Fair will be held on Saturday morning, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon in The Community Room at Vantage Career Center located at 818 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert. Organizers include representatives from the Van Wert Area Economic Development Corporation, Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Van Wert and the Wright State University Lake Campus Business Enterprise Center.

  • Jon A. Rhoades

    VAN WERT, Ohio — Jon A. Rhoades, 80, of Van Wert, Ohio passed away at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1937, in St. Marys, Ohio, to the late Thaddeus and Lillian (Todt) Rhoades. On Sept. 5, 1959, he married Nancy (Schultz) Rhoades and she survives of Van Wert.

  • Optimist Club to sponsor essay contest for students

    VAN WERT — The Optimist Club of Van Wert is encouraging area students to contemplate the phrase “Can Society Function Without Respect” as part of the Optimist International Essay Contest for the 2017-2018 school year. The contest is open to all Van Wert County students who were under age 18 as of Oct. 1, 2017.
