VAN WERT — The 2016 – 2017 Van Wert basketball program recently held their awards night program to honor all the basketball players for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the program.

Team and individual awards were presented to members of the freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams.

Special team awards were presented to: Cougar Award - Jacoby Kelly; Claw Award - Dylan Lautzenheiser; Chairman Of The Boards - Dylan Lautzenheiser; Rookie Of The Year - Nate Place; Pride Award - Nick Gutierrez; Grit Chase Award - Austin Sudduth; Captains Award - Nick Gutierrez, Jacoby Kelly, Drew Bagley, Nate Place, Tanner Barnhart, Clayton Proffitt; Senior Award - Nick Gutierrez, Dylan Lautzenheiser, Matt Reichert and Austin Sudduth.

Additionally, the following players received recognition for other postseason honors: Jacoby Kelly - 2nd team all-Western Buckeye League, 1st team all-District 8, Times Bulletin Dream Team, honorable mention all-Northwest Ohio, OHSBCA Showcase Top 100; Nate Place - 3rd team all-WBL, OHSBCA Showcase Top 100; Dylan Lautzenheiser - honorable mention all-WBL; Drew Bagley - OHSBCA Showcase Top 100; Blake Henry - OHSBCA Showcase Top 100.

OHSBCA academic awards were presented to Nick Gutierrez (gold), Austin Sudduth (gold), Matthew Reichert (gold), Jacoby Kelly (silver) and Jonathan Lee (silver).

Scholar Athlete award winners included Nick Gutierrez, Austin Sudduth, Matthew Reichert, Brock Blythe, Jonathan Lee, Anna Reichert, Drew Bagley, Blake Henry, Jalen McCracken, Nate Place, Joey Schaufelberger, Kolby Barnhart, Tanner Barnhart, Keaton Brown, Parker Conrad, Jackson Eddins, Jake Hilleary, Colin Place, Clayton Proffitt and Holden Reichert.
