ANTWERP — The Lincolnview offense finally came to life, exploding for a five-run fourth inning on Friday night at Antwerp en route to a 7-3 non-league victory for the Lancers.
Derek Youtsey was the beneficiary of all that offense, as he went the distance on the mound, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out six along the way.
At the plate, Youtsey was three Lancers to contribute at least two hits in the game. He also scored two runs for Lincolnview.
After the Lancers scored in the top of the first on a Derrek Friesner RBI double, Antwerp was able to come right back and take the lead with two in the bottom of the inning, helped by a Lincolnview error.

“After we got through the first, we settled down both defensively and offensively,” Lincolnview coach Kevin Longstereth offered after the game. “Youtsey got into a groove after the first and did a good job of challenging hitter. Once he decided to do that, his confidence grew with the play of our defense.”
The Lancers sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run fourth inning that began with back-to-back singles by Connor McCleery and Youtsey. After left fielder Jalen Roberts walked to load the bases, catcher Tyler Richey delivered a two-run single to left that gave the Lancers the lead for good.
After a sacrifice moved both runners up, Austin Leeth walked to re-load the bases for Dalton Schmersal, who knocked in a pair with a single to right-center. Kyle Williams brought home the fifth run of the frame with a base hit up the middle.
“It was good to see Williams, (Youtsey), and Dalton Schmersal all have multiple hits in the game,” Longstreth added. “We still need to continue to improve at the plate, but hopefully this will get us kick-started.”
