ANTWERP — It took five games, and extra points in the fourth, for Lincolnview and Antwerp to decide a winner on Saturday night, but with a 15-11 win in the final set, the Lady Lancers came away with a hard-fought victory. Lincolnview claimed a 25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 27-29, 15-11 decision to even its record at 1-1 on the season.
The Lancer hitters had plenty of success at the net, with sophomore Katie McClure connecting on 30 of 38 attempts and piling up a dozen kills in the match. Lefty Ashton Bowersock added 10 kills on 23-for-28 and Ashley Teman was 25-for-27 with seven kills on the day.
Antwerp was paced by 13 kills from Emily Hamman and nine from Emily Derck. Derck led the Archers with 13 digs.
Devann Springer directed the Lancer offense all evening, collecting 55 setting assists for the match. Grace Gorman paced the Lancer defense with 17 digs.


For Antwerp, Peyton Short served three aces during her 24-for-24 effort and added 29 assists and nine digs in a solid all-around match. Kiana Recker added a pair of aces while digging 11 balls.
For the Lancers, Alana Williams connected on all 14 of her service tries, including three aces. Baylee Neate added 15-for-15 from the service line while dropping in one ace. McClure and Williams each recorded three aces during the match for the Lancers.
Antwerp won the junior varsity match in three games. The Lady Lancers host Continental on Monday at Lincolnview High School. JV time is 5:30 p.m.

Panthers runners-up at Parkway Invitational
ROCKFORD — The host Lady Panthers fell in a decisive third set in the finals of the 2014 Parkway Invitational on Saturday, losing to Arlington. Parkway defeated Dunbar and Arcanum on its way to the finals and is now 3-1 on the season.
Arlington collected wins over Riverside and Elida, each coming in two sets. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Arcanum for third place, with Riverside defeating Lima Temple Christian for fifth and Houston finishing seventh with a win over Dunbar in the consolation bracket.
