The Lady Knights opened the game on an 11-0 run, getting a three-pointer from Kennis Mercer and a layup from Emily Bauer.
Paulding’s only field goal of the opening stanza was a bucket from Sierra McCullough to make the first period score 13-4, Crestview.
The Knights continued to roll in the second period, as Mackenzie Riggenbach drained the first of her three three-pointers to increase the lead to 16-4. Riggenbach would knock down two more in the half and sharpshooter Terra Crowle added another triple to give Crestview a 27-8 lead at halftime.
Crestview continued there good run to start the second half as the Lady Knights went on a 8-0 spurt, getting four points from Riggenbach and a basket from Crowle to make the score 35-8 in the third period.
That’s when Paulding finally showed up to the party.

Five more points from McCullough and a jumper from Brooke Combs brought Paulding to within 18 at 37-19.
The Lady Knights got a three-pointer from Mercer, but Paulding quickly countered with one from McCullough to make the score 40-24, Lady Knights.
Paulding ended the game on an 11-2 run but it was still far too large a hole to climb out of. Eventually, Paulding simply ran out of time.
“Defensively we played real well for three quarter we had a little let up there in the fourth quarter and they hit some tough shots. Offensively, I thought we moved the ball well and I think we missed some shots that we usually make. And we talked about that, when you have those games that you are not going to shoot the ball well, you need your defense to carry you. We just had a little let down in the fourth quarter,” said Lady Knights coach Greg Rickard.
The Lady Panthers had one scorer in double figures with Sierra McCullough with 13 points. The Lady Knights got Mackenzie Riggenbach with 13 points and Kennis Mercer added in 11 points for Crestview.
“Because of the lead, and we have had four games in eight days — we had three really big rivalry games — and I think fatigue was a little bit of a factor. We had a lot of open shots that were just short, so I think fatigue was a fact in that fourth quarter. We had some good open looks, and I don’t know if we are getting a little run down with all the tough games,” finished coach Rickard.
The Crestview Lady Knights improve to 13-1 on the year and 5-0 in the NWC. The Lady Knights remain atop the NWC and could take the lead with an Allen East lose tonight. The Lady Panthers drop to 5-9 on the year and 1-5 in the NWC.
