VAN WERT - Wayne H. Sidle, 83, of Van Wert, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014, at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.

Sidle was born on April 24, 1930, in Van Wert, to Lee Clair and Grace Elizabeth (Mongold) Sidle, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 29, 1954, he married Carol J. (Phelps) and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Diane L. (David) Morris of Venedocia; a son, Ronald W. Sidle, of West Liberty, OH; a sister, Nellita N. (Carl) Reidenbach, of Fort Wayne, IN.; six grandchildren, Leah (Mike) Keysor, Marie (Phillip) Winfield, Noel (Kayla) Morris, and Ethan, Anne, and Olivia Morris; and ten great-grandchildren.

Sidle was preceded in death by two brothers, Oswin Sidle and Lowell Sidle.

He was a retired quality control technician for Federal Mogul, retiring in 1990 after 40 years of service. Sidle was a member of First United Methodist Church, a 1948 graduate of Van Wert High School, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korea War, serving as a supply sergeant at Camp Polk, LA.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 11 at Cowan & Son Funeral Home at 616 S. Washington St. in Van Wert with Rev. Gus Christo-Baker and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery.

Calling will take place on Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to First United Methodist Food Bank, Salvation Army or donor’s choice.
