VAN WERT, Ohio — Ronald J. Oswalt, of Van Wert, went to be with our Lord on Dec. 29, 2013.

On May 28, 1928, he was born in Van Wert to Forrest and Wave (Stemphley) Oswalt, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a brother: John, and a sister: Coleen Clark.

He is survived by daughters: Connie Uncapher of Van Wert, Debra Jenkins of Celina, Cheri (Bill) Karn of Plain City, Cindy DeHaan of Angola, Ind., and Pam (David) Hendricks of Plain City, also five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was retired from Federal Mogul of Van Wert after 35 years of service, starting as a tool and die maker, and retiring as a plant engineer, after traveling the world. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Temple in Van Wert and past Exalted Ruler of the Van Wert Elks Club. His greatest passion was antiquing, and finding that one great buy. He was known for his quick wit and being a jokester, was never at a loss for words, and never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by many friends and loved ones.

Private family services will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
