Robert E. McCleary, 74, passed away Jan. 8, 2014, at 8:21 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Robert was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Van Wert County, to Ralph and Ruth (Bell) McCleary who preceded him in death.
On Nov. 12, 1960, he married Marsha (Foster) McCleary who survives in Lima.
Bob was a member of Salem Mennonite Church. He was an accounting
manager and a field auditor for Terra Ag Corporation for many years
before retiring in 1992. Bob was a lifelong farmer, who loved the land
and nature as a whole. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and anything to do
outside with nature. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather who was seen as a true patriarch of the family and he
will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: a son: Kent (Elizabeth)
McCleary of Elida, Ohio; daughter: Melissa (Jerry) Stemen of Elida; four
grandchildren: Kent R. E. (Leah) McCleary, Joseph (Dustie) McCleary,
Amanda Stemen, Sarah McCleary; great-granddaughter: Nevaeh McCleary; two
sisters: Donna (Robert) Schaadt of Salem, S.C., Eva (Frank) Haubry of
Nineveh, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
be held Jan. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Salem Mennonite Church. Paula
Snyder Belousek will officiate at the service. Friends may call Sunday,
Jan. 12, 2014, from 2 - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation
Services - Shawnee Chapel and one hour of visitation prior to the
service on Monday at the church.
