CONVOY, Ohio — Mary Louise Fortney, 86, of Convoy, Tully Township, died at 9:51 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Monroeville, Ind., to the late Mazie (Clevenger) and Donald Baker.

Her husband, Morgan Lucius Fortney, died March 15, 2011. They were married Nov. 15, 1947, in Dixon.

Survivors include her sons: Rex (Beverly) Fortney of Van Wert, and Gary (Tamara) Fortney of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter: Theresa (Dennis) Sites of North Manchester, Ind.; brothers: Donald “Jake” Baker of Convoy; sisters: Patricia Fralick of Convoy and Joan Pierce of Monroeville; six grandchildren: Rhonda (Craig) Smart, Jeremy Sites, Laura (Josh) Gross, Ryan (Kristy) Fortney, Justin Fortney and Brianna Fortney, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Baker, who was killed in the Korean War.

She retired from Aeroquip (Eaton). She was a member of Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church where she had been active in the Ladies Group, as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and many other positions. She was a 1946 graduate of Hoaglin High School.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church, Tully Township. The Rev. Wayne Kargas will officiate. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Preferred memorial is Countryside Chapel Untied Methodist Church.
