HOLGATE, Ohio — Martha A. Thieroff, 72, of Holgate, passed away on
March 8, 2014, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance,
She was born on Jan. 12, 1942, to Lester and Margaret (Siegel) Morris in Lima, Ohio.
On April 23, 1966, she married Lavon Thieroff who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2011.
She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid,
and a former Sunday School teacher and past church officer, a member of
the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League where she was a former officer,
former officer for Thrivent Financial for Lutheran’s, a member of the
Village Quilters in Archbold, Ohio. She graduated from York High School
near Van Wert, Ohio, and graduated from Findlay College where she was a
member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Martha worked as a secretary for
both Marathon Oil in Findlay and the Ohio Division of Forestry. Martha
also traveled to various European countries with the WBGU tour group.
is survived by her son, Steven (Amy) Thieroff of Holgate; brothers,
Richard (Joan) Morris of Quebec, Canada, and David (Edith) Morris of
Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Mary (John) Edie of Arlington, Ohio, and
Maggie (Luis) Lopez of Grand Junction, Colo.; granddaughter, Emily
Thieroff, and grandsons, Pete Thieroff and Matthew Thieroff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, from 2 - 8 p.m. at Schaffer
Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, and one hour prior to the services at the
church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be
held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the St. Stephen
Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, with the Rev. William Stottlemyer
officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Lutheran Church
