CELINA, Ohio — Lyle Randal “Zeb” Mitchener, 67, of Celina, formerly of Van Wert, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.

He was born Jan. 30, 1947, in Van Wert, to Dorotha J. “Dottie” (Canny) Mitchener who survives of Van Wert and the late Paul F. Mitchener.

Other survivors include his long-time partner: Kathy Phillips of Celina; sons: Greg (Gabriella Chavaria) Mitchener of Convoy, Ohio, Brian (Tracy) Mitchener of Huntertown, Indiana, Adam (Lea) Purk of Delphos, Ohio; daughter: Shana (Ken) Gilkey of Kailua, Hawaii; brothers: Ray Lynn “Ace” (Barb) Mitchener of Linn, Missouri, and Kim (Mary) Mitchener of Findlay, Ohio; sister: Faye Ditto of Van Wert; 12 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He had worked at Aeroquip Corp. and as a boiler operator at Hancor in Findlay. He had been a military policeman in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He was a charter member of the Wetzel Motorcycle Club, a member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and both the Van Wert and Celina Moose lodges.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio.
