Kathryn ‘Kate’ Lucas
PAULDING, Ohio — Kathryn “Kate” Lucas, 96, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at the Gardens of Paulding.

She was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Blue Creek Township.

On May 25, 1938, she married Dale S. Lucas who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2000.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church; a lifetime member of Know Your Neighbor Club; charter member of John Paulding Historical Society; charter member of Paulding F.O.E. Aerie 2405 Auxiliary (50-plus year member); Paulding Co. Hospital Auxiliary; and life member of Ohio Farmers Union. She served two years as interim Paulding County extension agent; and worked many years for the Paulding County Democrat Party.

She is survived by a son, Dale (Regina) Lucas of Paulding; daughters, Sara (Thomas) Cooney of Watkinsville, Georgia, and Debra Lucas Fagher of Rocky River, Ohio; grandchildren, Kathy Rainwater, James Cooney, Ann Haas Powers, Cynthia Hancock, Michelle Mack, Dan Fagher and Leslie Fagher; great-grandchildren, Dalton Hancock, Lucas Haas, Jenna Mack, Jenson Mack and Doyle Cooney; siblings: Helen Beach of North Adams, Michigan, and Delmar Dunham, Britton, Michigan.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and Kauser siblings, Henry Leo, John Almon, Walter Albert (Pat), Willis Earl, Anna Mae Reinhart, Gertrude Orilla Benor, Dorothy M. Riggenbach, and Dunham siblings: Charles, Harold, Glenn, Justice, Carl, Nellie Reeve and Aurilla Witter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Pastor Karen Stetins officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at the funeral home. There will also be visitation on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to The Gardens of Paulding Activity Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
