ROANOKE, Ind. — Janice L. Cumbey, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
was a 1967 graduate of Crestview High School in Convoy, Ohio, and a
1968 graduate of Warner Beauty College. She worked as a beautician for
38 years, owning her own business, M.J.’s Classic Styles in Roanoke,
until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of Seminary United
Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Roanoke American Legion Post 160
Auxiliary. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Convoy, the daughter of Eldin and Lucille
(Marquardt) Rhoades. On Jan. 19, 1970, she married her beloved husband
Thomas Cumbey Sr. in Convoy, and he passed away Jan. 8, 2003.
She is survived by two sons: Tom (Tina) Cumbey Jr. of Oswego, Ill.,
and Bob Cumbey of Roanoke; two grandchildren: Madeline and Carter
Cumbey; three brothers: David (Alice) Rhoades of Ohio City, Ohio, Dwight
(Connie) Rhoades of Van Wert, Ohio, and Dennis (Susan) Rhoades of
Convoy; a sister: Joy (Al) Goodman of Elgin, Ill., and numerous nieces
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 17 from
5-8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes and one
hour prior to the Saturday, Jan. 18 11 a.m. funeral service at Seminary
United Methodist Church, 285 N. Seminary St., Roanoke. Burial will
follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
