VENEDOCIA, Ohio — Hugh O. Pugh, 79, of Venedocia, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Zusman Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 7, 1934, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Emerald (Sayers) Pugh and John O. Pugh.
His wife, Evelyn (Girod) Pugh, survives of Venedocia. They were married Aug. 8, 1954.
Other survivors include children: Owen (Karen) Pugh of Convoy, Ohio,
Bob (Denise) Pugh, Eric (Jenny) Pugh and Kathy (Bob) McCollow, all of
Venedocia; sister: Dorothea Plikerd of Spencerville, Ohio;
grandchildren: Chad Pugh, Shonda Marley, Cory McCollow, Peter McCollow,
Morgan Pugh, Evan Pugh, Madison Pugh, and Isaiah Pugh,
great-grandchildren: Kayden and Kale Pugh.
He was a lifetime dairy
farmer in Van Wert County and retired in 1986 from Crestview Local
Schools after 32 years as a teacher and principal. In retirement, he
worked at Tractor Supply Company in Lima and Van Wert and at
Palmer-Donovan in Delphos, Ohio.
He was a member of Salem
Presbyterian Church, Venedocia. He was a veteran of the United States
Naval Reserve, a member of Venedocia Lion’s Club, Van Wert Masonic
Lodge, Spencerville Order of the Eastern Star, and Retired Teachers of
Van Wert County. He was also active with the Van Wert County Farmer’s
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28
at Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia. Pastor Thomas Emery will
officiate. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery, Venedocia.
will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van
Wert, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Preferred memorial is Salem Presbyterian Church or Venedocia Lion’s Club.
