ROCKFORD, Ohio — Helen Pauline Shinabery, 93, of Rockford, died at
10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Van
She was born July 29, 1921, in Ohio City, to the late Loretta Louetta (Rayer) and Peter W. Wiseman.
Her husband, Darlene M. Shinabery, died Dec. 17, 1993. They were married Oct. 17, 1941.
Survivors include children: Sandi (James) Allmyer of Mason, Ohio,
Bruce (Marcella) Shinabery of Van Wert, Brent Shinabery of Rockford,
Vikki (Kerry) Kauffman of Decatur, Ind., Victor (Donna) Shinabery of St.
Marys; a sister: Thelma “Tootie” Allen of Rockford; seven
grandchildren: Carey (Kristin) Allmyer, Kyle Kauffman, Kara Kauffman,
Kendra Kauffman Ryan Shinabery, Matthew (Ashley) Shinabery, and
Stephanie Shinabery; a great-grandson: Jayson Allmyer;
stepgranddaughter: Chelli (Rodney) Sheffar, and three
stepgreat-grandchildren: Dolan and Emma Haynes, Adam Sheffar.
was preceded in death by her brothers: Paul Wiseman, Waldo Wiseman,
Robert Wiseman and Lloyd F. “Bud” Wiseman, and sisters: Emma Lou Myers
and Marcile Edna McDougal.
She had worked at Colonial Nursing Home
and retired from Shane Hill Nursing Home after 25 years of service. She
was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ohio City and the 37th
Division Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will be held at 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.
Pastor Chad Strabbing of St. Pauls RCA will officiate. Burial will be in
Dayton National Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday, from 6 - 8 p.m.
Preferred memorial is VanCrest Health Care Center or State of the Heart Ohio Hospice.
