DELPHOS, Ohio — Harold A. Wagner, 83, of Delphos, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Sarah Jane Living Center.

He was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Delphos, to the late Richard and Loretta (Gerdeman) Wagner.

On June 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Shirley Sue Pollock of Delphos.


He enjoyed collecting race cars, trains, carousels and loved going to the fairs all over the state of Ohio and going to the circus. He religiously followed Delphos St. John’s sports and made many scrapbooks for the different sporting teams. He was a member of Delphos St. John Catholic Church.

He worked at New Delphos Mfg. for 37 1/2 years then worked for Federal Mogul for five years. He was a sergeant in the United States Army.

Survivors include four sons: Rodney (Karen) Wagner, Keith (Angel) Wagner, Paul (Sue) Wagner and Kevin Wagner, all of Delphos; a daughter: Marcia (Bob JR.) McNamee of Delphos; two sisters: Grace Morris of Delphos and Helen (Richard) Nichols of Indiana; one brother: Ronald (Arlene) Wagner of Delphos; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Wagner and Mary Wagner; 12 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Ralph Wagner.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. Father Ron Schock will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery where the Delphos Veterans Council will conduct military graveside rites following the services.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday July 21, 2014, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. There will be a parish wake at 7:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
