OHIO CITY, Ohio — Ellen L. Kohn, 77, of Ohio City, died at 7:25 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Van Wert Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born July 23, 1936, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Gladys Malinda (Brown) and Byron C. Stump.
Her husband, Max Lee Kohn, died June 5, 2010. They were married Sept. 11, 1954.
Survivors include a son: Rick (Melinda) Kohn of Van Wert; daughters:
Nancy (Dannie) Boroff and Karen (Tim) Dull, both of Ohio City; sister:
Marcella Williams of Jackson, Mich.; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Gribler of
Goodyear, Ariz., and Janice Kohn of Ohio City; brother-in-law: Terry
Kohn of Hastings, Mich.; eight grandchildren: Stephanie (Sean Ryan)
Kohn, Cassie (Drew) Waltmire, Brooke (Aaron) Allmandinger, Bryan Boroff,
Tricia Boroff, Drew Dull, D.J.(Kristi) Dull, and Darci Dull, and five
great-grandchildren: Gannon and Gage Allmandinger, Hartley Waltmire,
Briggs Ryan, and Colby Dull.
She was preceded in death by a
brother: Doyt Stump, who was killed in WWII, and a sister: Glendora
Allmandinger Girod. She was also predeceased by several brothers and
She retired as a librarian from the Brumback
County Library. She and her husband owned and operated Kohn’s Korner in
Ohio City for many years. She was a member of Ohio City United Methodist
Church, a 1954 graduate of Ohio City Liberty High School and a member
of the Van Wert Chapter 48, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed
genealogy, scrap booking, her grand kids and great-grandkids. She was a

Jan. 23, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Kevin
Wilcox of Ohio City United Methodist will officiate. Burial will be in
Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home. An O.E.S. service is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorial is Ohio City Fire Department & E.M.S. or Ohio City United Methodist Church.
