VAN WERT, Ohio — David L. Brake, 50, of Van Wert, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at his residence.
He was born July 28, 1964, in Van Wert, to the late Virginia Jean (May) Brake who preceded him in death on March 10, 2004.
His wife, Traci L. (Kelly) Brake, survives. They were married Sept. 9, 1989.
Other survivors include a son: Jacob L. Brake at home; daughter:
Chloe L. Brake at home; brothers: George (Kathy) Brake of Ohio City,
Greg (Kim) Brake of Atlanta, Georgia, Larry P. Banta of Van Wert, Mark
A. (Renee) Banta of Monroe, Michigan; a sister: Kathy S. Banta of Van
Wert, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the owner of Interior Updates Construction & Modeling and worked for various construction projects in the area.
was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and was a
1983 graduate of Van Wert High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing,
spending time with his children, and gardening.
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at First United
Methodist Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Gus Christo-Baker of First United
Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery,
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour ahead of services at the church on Friday.
