VAN WERT, Ohio — David James Stevens, 73, of Van Wert, died at 1:18
p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Viola (Heath) and James Howard Stevens.
His wife, Stella Jane (Siders), survives. They were married July 21, 1962.
Other survivors include a son: James Clayton (Elizabeth) Stevens of
Van Wert; daughter: Tammy Kay Stevens of Van Wert; brothers: Donald W.
Stevens and Gayle L. (Karen) Stevens, both of Van Wert, and Gary P.
(Connie) Stevens of Ohio City; sisters: Janella D. (Don) Lovellette of
Syracuse, Indiana, and Sharon K. Norman of North Manchester, Indiana;
four grandchildren: Tasha N., Joshua J., Jermery David, and Cody J.
Stevens; two stepgrandchildren: Kevina and Justin Currie, and a
great-granddaughter: Layla Stevens.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Mabel Gibson.
retired from B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, Indiana. He was affiliated with
New Life Fellowship in Van Wert and was an avid Buckeyes fan.
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Cowan & Son
Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Dan Custus of New Life Fellowship will
officiate. Burial will be in I. O. O. F. Cemetery in Tully Township.
Calling hours are Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m.
Preferred memorial is CHP Inpatient Hospice Center or New Life Fellowship.
