MIDDLE POINT, Ohio — D. Jean Long, 84, of Middle Point, went to be with her Lord at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
She was born March 24, 1930, in Grover Hill, Ohio, to the late Belva (Sherry) and Lee Ross, Sr.
Her husband, Robert D. Long, survives. They were married May 22, 1948, in Grover Hill.
Other survivors include a son: Robert D. (Laurie) Long of Middle
Point; daughters: Sherry (Randy) Craig and Randi Wise, both of Van Wert,
Ohio, and Angela (Michael) Shellabarger of Middle Point; sister: Ruth
Crone of Grover Hill; nine grandchildren: Amber Walls, Bob Wise,
Danielle Long, Codi Wise, Jerod Long, Luke Edwards, JaNahn Evans,
Madison Adams and Justin Shellabarger, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Lee Ross, Jr. and a sister: Kathryn Marcile Jenkins.
retired as secretary for P&L Fertilizer and Pure Line Food Company
and was a homemaker. She was a member of Middle Point Presbyterian
Jean was an amazing mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states and she
truly enjoyed riding along with Bob in his semi.
She had belonged
to the Traveling Square dancing club, bowled and played volleyball but
her favorite hobby was making her grandchildren feel special.
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Cowan & Son
Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul W. Miller will officiate. Burial
will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township. Calling hours are Friday
from 4-8 p.m. and one hour ahead of services on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are Middle Point Ball Park and Middle Point Fire-E.M.S.
