VAN WERT, Ohio — Anita Mae Weeder, 103, of Van Wert, passed away at 7
p.m. Sunday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
She was born on June 15, 1911, in Auglaize County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Melvin F. and Hannah (Zimmerman) Metzger.
On March 5, 1938, she married Clair Wilbur Weeder and they enjoyed 73 years of marriage before he died on June 15, 2011.
Family survivors include her three daughters: Sharon L. Blank of Van
Wert, Marilyn A. (William) Morgan of Venedocia, and Debra J. (Robert)
Keppel of Tipp City, five grandchildren: Brian (Jeff Greenblat) Blank,
Anne (David) Harting, Jennifer (Brent) Wright, Kathleen (Will) Kessler
and Colleen (Brandon) Flayler, and five great-grandchildren: Ragen,
Jaret, Mackenzie Harting and Hannah and Marissa Kessler.
preceded in death by a sister: Helen Bell, five brothers: Richard,
Herbert, Burdette, Clifford and Theodore Metzger, and a son-in-law:
Anita co-owned and operated Triangle Super Valu
grocery in Van Wert, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Marks
Lutheran Church where she was active in Caregivers, Piecemakers and the
Dorcas Circle. She was also a member of the Men’s Garden Club and Lady
Board of Managers of the Van Wert County Hospital.
will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at St. Marks Lutheran
Church with the Rev. William C. Haggis, II officiating. Interment will
follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4
- 7 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services
Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to St. Marks Lutheran Church, the Brumback Library, or the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center.
