WILLSHIRE, Ohio — Amos D. “Dean” Stauffer, 79, of Willshire, died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Lima Memorial in Lima, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Berne, Indiana, to the late Amos Stauffer and Agnes (Carter) Stauffer.

He married Margaret (Duncan) Ziegler on April 18, 2011. She survives in Willshire.

He loved working in the garden and with flowers. He loved working. He was self-employed for many years in management with service stations, fruit stands, and was previously an assistant plant manager at the Krick & Tyndall Tile Mill in Decatur.

Other survivors include his sons: Terence Stauffer of Titusville, Florida, and Amos (Paulette) Stauffer, Gerald (Cheryl) Stauffer, and David “Nat” Stauffer, all of Willshire; brother: Larry (Rosie) Stauffer of St. Catherine, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Travis Stauffer, Amos Stauffer III, Thad (Cassie) Stauffer, Dustin (Becca) Stauffer, Tiffany Stauffer, Joshua Stauffer, and Zachary (Amanda) Stauffer; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; eight stepgrandchildren: including Christopher (Karina) Stumpf, and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jackie Fugate and Shirley Brown, and a granddaughter, Shana Maleah (Wright) Stauffer.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Pastor Jeff Gramza will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Willshire Cemetery in Willshire.

Visitation is 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home in Decatur.

Preferred memorials is Nat Stauffer or Putnam County Hospice.
