DELPHOS, Ohio — Albert M. Youngpeter, 86, of Delphos, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima.

He was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Landeck, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Frances (Carder) Youngpeter.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Suever on July 17, 1954. She survives in Delphos.


He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a woodworker who worked for Lima Lumber and Lima Custom Mill Works.

He served in the Air Force from 1946-1948 and was stationed in Germany.

Survivors include two sons: Dan A. (Cindy) Youngpeter of Lima and Tim Youngpeter of Delphos; two daughters: Deb (Dan) Pothast of Delphos and Sue (John) Hawk of Harrod; sisters-in-law: Alice Youngpeter of Delphos and Linda Suever; five grandchildren: Renee Hietmeyer, Nicky Laux, Chad Hardwick, Shannon Andrews, and Adam Youngpeter, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Theresa Youngpeter; two brothers: Jim and Gerald Youngpeter; two sisters: Mary Baird and Ann Hofstetter, and three infant siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.

Visitation is Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. A parish wake will be held at 7:30 p.m.
