VAN WERT — Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach is asking citizens to be aware of suspicious activity that may be occurring near their homes. According to Riggenbach, his office was alerted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office that vehicle break-ins have been occurring in Putnam County in an area near Van Wert County. The subjects are getting into unlocked vehicles that are parked outside, taking cash and change, and then leaving the property.
Riggenbach encourages all citizens to lock their vehicles parked outside and to lock any buildings where vehicles are kept. He also advised citizens to remove anything of value from their vehicle if it is left outside.
Anyone seeing suspicious activity should contact the Van Wert County Sheriff’s office immediately at (419) 238-3866 and provide as much information as possible. Information may also be through the “Submit a Crime Tip” link at www.vanwertcountysheriff.com or call Crime Stoppers at (419) 238-STOP.
