CELINA — A Rockford man accused of driving while intoxicated and causing the crash that killed 25-year-old Justin Hamrick of Rockford last year was sentenced to 11 years in prison in Mercer County Court of Common Pleas this week.

Eddy Paul Blossom, 28, was sentenced for aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Blossom was the driver of a 2002 Jeep Liberty that went off the north side of U.S. 33, hit two trees, then burst into flames in the early morning hours of August 25, 2013. Hamrick was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle.

Blossom himself had to be flown to a Dayton hospital for treatment.

Due to Blossom’s previous OVI offenses, he will not be apply to apply for early release for at least eight years.
