VAN WERT — Hobbyists from all over northwest Ohio and northeast Indiana will descend on Van Wert this weekend for the 2014 Railroad Heritage Weekend Model Railroad Show and Swap, Saturday and Sunday at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds.

The annual event draws in train-lovers. Vendors display and sell railcars, engines, and track in several scale sizes as well as scenery to decorate and enhance the overall look of the model display. Many vendors begin a love of railroads in childhood, and maybe a Lionel train set chugging around the Christmas tree. From that simple start, the hobby grows with a new scale track and train, bound only by imagination.

The show runs Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be plenty of operating layouts and vendor tables, and food. Admission is $3 for adults and children 12 and under will be admitted free.

The Model Railroad Show and Swap is sponsored by the Van Wert County Historical Society.
