MIDDLE POINT — The Village of Middle Point will be receiving a community development block grant (CDGB) for a quarter of a million dollars, according to the Ohio Development Services Agency (DSA).

The $280,000 grant will go toward the costs for construction of a new water treatment plant and replace 254 outdated water meters.

According to Village Administrator Mike Wolfcale, the grant will be combined with a $500,000 Ohio Public Works grant. The remainder of the $1.2 million project will be paid for using zero-percent loans.

The CDBG is through the Residential Public Infrastructure Program.

“Reliable and safe drinking water is integral to maintaining and strengthening communities,” said Ohio DSA Director David Goodman in a release.

Wolfcale told the Times Bulletin than the plant is expected to be operational within one year.
