CELINA - Mercer County Sheriff's deputies arrested two Celina men who appeared to be having a fight in a moving vehicle were arrested on drug charges Thursday.
According to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey stated in a release that deputies were attempting to serve a warrant when they saw the two men inside a vehicle which traveled left of center, so the deputies made a traffic stop. The driver, 26-year-old Nathaniel P. Ayers of Celina was charged with driving left of center, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, 27-year-old Michael Gillis of Celina was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In a separate incident Thursday, a St. Marys man was arrested as authorities were investigating possible drug activity in the Fort Recovery area. According to Grey, a detective saw suspicious activity and traffic violations while following a suspected vehicle. Coldwater Police helped make a traffic stop of the vehicle in that village. The driver, Jordan J. Bowers was arrested and charged with a traffic violation as well as operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, and multiple driving while suspension charges.
Bowers reportedly refused a drug test, so a search warrant was obtained. The presumptive results showed that Bowers was under the influence of amphetamines, benzodiazepines, marijuana, and opiates (heroin). He is currently in the Mercer County jail awaiting a court appearance.
A 29-year-old passenger in Bowers' car was not charged and was released.
