VAN WERT - A Van Wert man was arrested and charged after sheriff's deputies were tipped off about two men who were out of town getting drugs. David A. Leaser, 37, is charged with fourth-degree felony heroin possession.

According to Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach, information came in Monday that two men had allegedly driven to Dayton to get heroin. Deputies were able to find a vehicle matching the description given to them as it was heading toward Van Wert. The truck was pulled over after deputies observed the driver make multiple traffic violations. The K-9 unit from the Van Wert Police Department helped with the traffic stop.

Deputies were about to find a "moderate amount" of heroin on the driver's side of the vehicle. That was enough to charge Leaser. The second man in the truck was not charged and was released. According to Riggenbach, there is a possibility of more charges being filed as the investigation continues.

Leaser is being held in the Van Wert County Jail until he is arraigned in Van Wert Muncipal Court.
