DELPHOS — A Delphos man remains in custody this morning in the Allen County Jail after he went to the Delphos Police Department shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday and told officers he had shot his wife earlier in the day in a cornfield off Jones Road.
Police Chief Kyle Fittro said 43-year-old Patrick D. Collar told the officer on duty of the event and the officer called him inton the station.
Fittro said he and his officer took Collar to the cornfield and found 42-year-old Gerri L. Collar dead of an apparent gunshot wound. They then contacted Allen County Sheriff’s Office since the incident had occurred in their jurisdiction and deputies responded to the scene.
Fittro said his department has responded to the Collar residence in the past for alleged domestic disputes.
Sheriff detectives are continuing the investigation.
