CONVOY -- Convoy Board of Education members and administrators gathered to salute two retirees prior to the regular board meeting Monday evening at the school. Connie Moser is finishing her last year as teacher at Crestview. Also honored was cafeteria worker Joy Schaadt.

Most of the meeting itself was spent in readying for the end of the school year and planning ahead to put staff in place for the start of the 2014-`15 school year. The treasurer's report was approved as written and administrative reports were all heard.

A new teacher was hired for the high school science department. Nicole Buchholz was granted a one-year contract beginning with the next school year. In other moves, Becky Macki was hired as eighth grade girls basketball coach, and Meghan Henry was approved as volunteer girls basketballl coach. Jared Owens will be reassigned next year to a science teacher in the middle school, while Shay Sheets will be moved to elementary science teacher.

Supplemental contacts for 2014-15 were approved for Greg Rickard and Owen Pugh in the athletic deparment, Joshua Thomas as band director, Jeremy Best, Mark Gregory, Dave Bowen, Mike Myers, Frank Minnig, and Dan Miller as boys basketball coaches, Erin Holden, Bittany Helt, and Lindsay Ebbeskotte as cheer coaches, Danille Hancock for chorus, Jill Carpenter, Jeff Bagley, Melissa Eickholt, Christine Algright, Zach Rosenbeck, Mike Bowen, Paul Phhlman, Steve Sealscott, Michelle Brinkman, Ben Kaufman, and Allison Reindel as class advisors, Jeff Bagley and Randy Grandstaff as cross country coache, Ali Sawmiller asa FCCLA advisor, Jared Owens, Jon Van Cleave, James Lautzenheiser, Steve Sealscott, Ben Kaufman, Corbin Vance, Chris Roop, Tom Riggenbach. Travos Cunningham, and Zach Rosenbeck as football coaches, Greg Rickard, Trent Kreischer, Diane Wilson, and Melissa Eickholt as girls basketball coaches, and Kyle Watson as assistant girls soccer coach.

Other supplemental contracts were approved for: Jeremy Best as golf coach, Tess Jefferies for the government trip, anille Hancock and Doug Grooms as musical directors, Deanna Ray as National Honor Society advisor, Kristie McCormick and Ali Sawmiller as prom/class advisors, Keith Rydell in public relations, Sandy Grooms as Scholastic Bowl advisor, Judy Wortman as student council advisor, Tammy Gregory, Kristy Bagley, Sara Pugh, Hannah Phlipot, and Trista Semer as volleyball coaches, James Lautzenheiser as Washington D.C. trip advisor, and Kristie McCormick as yearbook advisor.

The board also voted to renew its contract with the Northwest Ohio Education Technology, and renew membership in the OHSAA. A Memorandum of Understanding was approved regarding permanent teaching certificate holders. The list of graduates for the class of 2014 was approved pending satisfactory completion of all graduation requirements. According to High School Principal Mike Biro, five potential graduates still have work to finish up in order to graduate.

Several overnight trips were approved by the board involving the girls basketball team, volleyball team, soccer team, and thecross country team, Travel for the girls basketball team to compete in a mid-season tourney, Classic in the County, hosted by Berlin Hiland High School in January 2015 was also approved. The board also congratulated FFA participants and advisor Paul Pohlman for a successful trip to the state convention.
