CONVOY — The Crestview Local Board of Education approved several contracts during Monday evening’s meeting, including a three-year labor contract with the Crestview Employees’ Association. Board President John Auld said, “I want to personally thank everybody on the CEA side as well as the board’s side for a lot of hard work to get this thing pulled together. It’s greatly appreciated.” Karen Germann, CEA vice president, said, “As an executive committee, we have really appreciated the collaboration that was involved in the negotiations. It just made this work so much better.”

Other contracts approved included a two-year contract to Lindsay Breese as Director of Curriculum and Instruction, a one-year contract to Shawna Putman as a middle school language arts teacher, a one-year contract to Ami Callow as a math teacher, a one-year contract to Matt Perkins as a bus driver, a one-year contract to Sara Buuck as an elementary paraprofessional, a one-year contract to Marcie Eberle as an elementary paraprofessional, and a one-year contract to Ethan Waddles as a custodian.

In other business, the Board:

Approved the transfer of $50,000 from the General Fund into the Retirement Benefits Fund (035).

Accepted with thanks a donation of $150 from the Jeff Royer Memorial for a high school baseball player.

Approved Emily Fegley as 2018 summer custodial help on an as-needed basis effective June 1, 2018.

Approved compensation for Jessica Schuette for 12 days at her per diem rate for the purpose of transitioning to the elementary principal position.

Approved for compensation for Amy Hyitt for five days at an hourly rate of $11.79 for the purpose of transitioning to the secretary position.

Approved compensation for Lindsay Breese for 12 days at her per diem rate for the purpose of transitioning to the director of curriculum and instruction position.

Appointed Kathy Mollenkopf as Crestview’s administrative representative for the Van Wert Area Schools Insurance Group (VWASIG) for the 2018-2019 school year.

Approved an overnight trip for the volleyball team to Coaches for Coaches Tournament in Findlay, Ohio with Coach Tammy Gregory on July 13-14, 2018.

Approved the Elementary Handbook, Athletic Department Handbook and Latchkey Program Information for the 2018-2019 school year as presented.

Approved the Agreement for Provision of Athletic Training Services from Van Wert County Hospital, as presented.

Approved the Career Education Opportunity (CEO) Expansion Agreement as presented.

Approved the Van Wert Area Business Advisory Council Compliance Plan as presented.

Approved a resolution declaring the necessity of renewing the traditional school district income tax for a continuing period of time currently due to expire on Dec. 31, 2019 as presented.

At the end of the meeting, the Board went into executive session for matters required to be kept confidential by federal law or regulations or state statutes and for the purpose of considering the appointment, employment, or compensation of public employees.

The next regular meeting of the Crestview Board of Education is scheduled for July 23, 2018, beginning at 6 p.m.
