VAN WERT — On Thursday, May 22 the Van Wert High School Symphonic Band will present its annual spring concert. The concert will be held in the Saltzgaber Music Hall of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center and begin at 7:30 p.m. This concert is free.

The concert will begin with special guest the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band, under the direction of Richard Sherrick. They will perform three pieces in preparation for their Friday night concert in the park.

The HS Symphonic Band will follow with an extremely diverse program of mostly cartoon music entitled “Cartoon(ish) Music.” Featured selections will include “The Machine Awakes” by Steven Bryant (featuring a light show designed by VWHS graduate Matt Saunier), “Circus Days March” by Karl King, “The Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre, “Kwyjibo” by Daniel Montoya Jr, “Highlights from Frozen” and the band will present a special recognition of the senior class.

The public is invited to this true multi-media presentation of performers ages 14 to 89.



Following the concert, the band will begin preparing for its final performances of the year at the VWHS graduation ceremony and the Peony parade as well as the transition into next school year.
