VAN WERT — Ohio State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers announced his support for the Van Wert County Fire Chiefs’ “No Child Sleeps Unprotected” smoke detector fund drive. The goal is to purchase over 4,000 smoke detectors, one for every child in Van Wert County in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Marshal Flowers dispatched Prevention Bureau Assistant Chief Richard Palmer to present to the chiefs his support for the program 84 smoke detectors with 10-year batteries. The chief’s desire to raise $60,000 before the October 2014 Fire prevention week, and these tax deductible donation can be sent directly to the Van Wert County Foundation, County Smoke Detector Fund at 138 E. Main St. or to any Van Wert County Department who will deposit these funds.
