VAN WERT — The Van Wert Community Club and VFW Post 5803 are still accepting applications for kindergarten or first grade students to attend Safety Village.

Safety Village is designed to demonstrate many of the basic safety practices you already stress in your home. Additionally, specific attention is given to pedestrian, bike and bus safety; fire prevention; the importance of seatbelt safety; stranger danger awareness; and 911 procedures. This will take place at the Van Wert fairgrounds starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. June 23 and 24 with a graduation ceremony after the last session. Weather will not be a factor. If it rains, we will be inside one of the buildings. We look forward to meeting you and your child as we work together to develop a safe environment for you child.

On June 24, children will be asked to bring in their own bikes and tricycles for bike safety day. Everything else will be provided. T-shirts and certificates will be given following June 24 for all children who are present for the ceremony.

If after you have registered you find out that for any reason your child will not be able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Any questions or more information, please call Colleen Wiley at (419) 203-9351.
